More information about Fern Grotto |
|
 |
The Fern Grotto is located up the Wailua River. To get there you have to go by boat. That is good because the boat ride is a fun part of the trip.
The Smith family started the river boat service in 1955. It is still a family run business. |
| |
| One way up the river you will be told about the history of the Wailua area. The other way you will hear live Hawaiian music and Hula Dancing. You will even get a hula lesson. |
 |
| |
 |
After the boat ride there is a short walk to the Fern Grotto through a jungle garden.
At the Fern Grotto you will be told some more stories about the area and you will hear the Hawaiian wedding song while you are in the Fern Grotto. |
| |
The Fern Grotto is
also available for weddings. If you are interested in this please

About the ferns? |
|
| The sword ferns that grow at the Fern Grotto hang from the ceiling and walls. They are growing good these days. They did have some problems in the past. The worst for them was after the hurricanes which broke a lot of the trees near the Grotto this brought more sunshine and drier conditions not so good for the ferns. The trees grow back though after all it is a jungle out here. The ferns are growing good again. |
