More Detail about Kipu Ranch Adventures |
This is the "mule" that takes people who are not driving. It also carries food and drinks for the trip. It is driven by one of the guides. |
| |
| The entrance to Kipu Ranch is lined by Norfolk Island Pines. It is an impressive entry way for a ranch. These pine trees were introduced from Norfolk island in the South Pacific. There is also a Cook Island Pine also from the South Pacific that looks the same. There is often much disagreement about which is which. I still have not figured out how to tell one from the other. |

There is a really good chance that you might see some wild pigs during the trip. There is an even better chance of seeing some not so wild pigs at the ranch. They should start doing some luau trips. |
| |
| This is a working ranch so it is a tour on trails. They do not let you ride wild chasing the cattle or going cross country. Trail conditions can be dry and dusty or wet and muddy. |
| |
There are two tours.
The Ranch tour is 3 hours and is a tour of the ranch. The trails are easier on this tour. Drinks and snacks are provided.
The waterfall tour is a 4 hour tour. As the name implies you visit a waterfall. There is some hiking involved in getting to the waterfall. The terrain is more challenging on this tour also. This tour has drinks and lunch. |
| |
| At a steep spot there is a little stability test and lesson with the ATVs. |
| |
There are many stops along the way to enjoy the views. Learn about the area, plants, and history. The stops give you a chance to take pictures too. |
| |
| The trail is fun and not to demanding. There is a chance to cross a small stream. Nothing too extreme on the ride. |
| |
Here you can make like Indiana Jones and swing out into the Huleia River. It is a good place to take a break and cool off. |
| |
Here is the Kipu Kai lookout. Kipu Kai is on the other side of the Haupu Ridge. This is also where the one road into Kipu Kai crosses the ridge. Unfortunately you don't get to drive on down to the beach. |
| |
| Here are some of the guides at Kipu Ranch Adventures. They will be taking care of you and telling you stories along the way. |
